Leomat Plant Hire (Pty)Ltd and Leomat Construction (Pty)Ltd were assessed by NOSA against the provisions of the NOSA Five Star System in occupational, health and safety management in November 2005, both receiving their five-star grading.

In 2006 NOSA awarded Leomat Construction (Pty)Ltd for achieving second place in the NOSA five-star System, Section F (construction). Leomat Plant Hire (Pty)Ltd were awarded third place.

5-Star Status

In 2007 Leomat Plant Hire (Pty)Ltd and Leomat Construction (Pty)Ltd registered with the Kwa-Zulu Natal Builders and Allied Industry Association, whereby both companies achieved their five-star grading in occupational health, safety and environment. To date we have maintained our 5-star status.

In conjunction with our employees, Leomat will do everything in its power to prevent accidents, injuries, occupational illnesses and the release of materials, which could be detrimental to the environment. Leomat will commit to continually improve health, safety and environmental matters.

PAIA (Promotion of Access to Information Act)

PAIA is structured to allow for the application of section 32 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa. The purpose of this legislation is to promote transparency, accountability and governance both in the private and public sectors.

POPI Act (Protection of personal information)

POPI is structured to protect personal information from being:

  • re-sold;
  • causing inconvenience;
  • damage; and
  • loss or fraud related to the resale and use of that information.

The purpose of the POPI act is to protect personal information, to strike a balance between the right to privacy and the need for the free flow of, and access to information, and to regulate how personal information is processed.

The Leomat Construction’s rating of 9CE is the highest designation rating achievable for a construction company.

The Bargaining Council for the Civil Engineering Industry (BCCEI) is a statutory body created under the Labour Relations Act (LRA) 66 of 1995 to provide for the co-regulation of stable and productive employment relations in the civil engineering industry. The council is an industry based forum of organised business and labour that regulates employment conditions and labour relations in the civil engineering industry. It provides the necessary, administrative infrastructure and technical expertise to ensure effective collective bargaining, industry compliance, dispute resolution and social protection services.

The Association is an employers’ organisation registered in terms of the Labour Relations Act and exists to represent the interests of members, as well as to provide them with specialist support services to assist them in the successful running of their businesses. The membership comprises some 756 enterprises involved in the building industry and related activities in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.

THE FEDERATED EMPLOYER’S MUTUAL ASSURANCE COMPANY (RF) PROPRIETARY LIMITED was established as a mutual insurer in 1936 and on the introduction of the Workmen’s Compensation Act 1941 was granted a license to continue to transact workmen’s compensation insurance for the building industry.

Its’ business operations are essentially confined to the insurance of employers against their liabilities under the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act 1993.

The Central Supplier Database maintains a database of organisatons, institutions and individuals who can provide goods and services to government. The CSD will serve as the single source of key supplier information for organs of state from 01 April 2016 providing consolidated, accurate, up-to-date, complete and verified supplier information to procuring organs of state.
