MEDIA STATEMENT BY LEOMAT PLANT HIRE

The Disciplinary Hearing of Leomat Plant Hire Supervisor, Mr. Kouwenhoven, commenced on 2 December 2009 chaired by CCMA appointed commissioner,  Gerhard Gertenbach.   The hearing was in respect of a complaint arising from the defacing of a driver’s license. 

 Mr. Kouwenhoven pleaded guilty to the charges as per the notification of the disciplinary hearing, and was dismissed.

 Mr. Mngadi remains in the employ of Leomat, and continues with his regular duties.

On 22 October 2009 it was brought to the attention of senior management that a complaint had been lodged with the  National Union of Mine Workers by one of our employee’s against his supervisor.  This was a single isolated incident between two Leomat Plant Hire employees.  Once the matter was brought to the attention of senior management, it was handled in accordance with our HR policy.  In accordance with this policy, the accused supervisor has been suspended pending a disciplinary hearing which will be chaired by a CCMA commissioner on the request of Leomat.  The complainant is currently still in the employ of Leomat.


 Leomat does not condone any form of abuse and or discrimination by or towards any of our employees, and the company takes allegations of such very seriously.  This matter has and will continue to be dealt with under correct and proper procedures.
